I call this image Big Kahuna after the yacht that appears in the center--a well-known racer on the Great Lakes. The image captures the feel at the windward mark, as the boats crowd together, jockeying for position and advantage, and trying to do the quickest job possible of getting their spinnakers up for the downwind leg. There's lots of shouting, lots of excitement, lots of big, powerful boats hungry for victory.

This image is intended to be a major statement in the room where it is displayed. It is produced on a 24 by 36 inch sheet; the giclee image itself on the print is 20 by 30 inches at 150 dots per inch. It is printed from a 4500 by 3000 pixel original (a 36 megabyte file.)

This detail shows you how the image has been transformed and textured into a   mosaic of abstract forms in intense colors. It comes from a small section in the lower right hand corner of the image -- look just to the left of the man in the red jacket in the lower right corner.
